Great news for bumblebees; they will be protected.
Sad news for the intelligence of mankind (or maybe only Californian) - when one has to distort the meaning of words beyond reason in order to make an a priori decision look like an application of the law. Totalitarian countries are generally pretty good at such word games.
As the article says: "In short, bumble bees are fish if the Fish and Game Commission says they are fish – to provide better protection to them. "

I've heard that in July...California's state Endangered Species Act is now classifying bees as fish to protect them against insecticides that kill them.
