Is there something short of forcing chains that I've missed ? The rating ED=5.0/5.0/2.6 would suggest that.

There are two "6" in the \diagonal at r3c3 and r5c5.
Every cell that see these 2 cells can eliminate the 6.
You got (somehow) (-6)r3c5 and (-6)r5c3
But you missed the (-6)r7c3 on the other diagonal
Besides basic methods only generalized intersections are needed.
The ED=5.0 is result of some Hidden/Naked Quad.
