3-row x-sudokus - Thread 2

Postby Leren » Fri Jan 20, 2023 11:41 pm

As the original thread was hijacked onto another topic I thought I'd continue the original topic here.

285 13 clue 3-row x-sudokus are easily found from non-minimal 14 cluers, but one,

Code: Select all
...................1...2.34..........5..6.7.8..........3.4.9.21..................

the 286th remains a bit of a mystery as to how I found it.

Possibly I had a non minimal 14 cluer with one extraneous clue outside of the 3 rows. Can many more 13 cluers be found in this way ? No idea.

Possibly it may turn up if I find all 14 cluers, which seems to be converging to about 40,000 minimals.

The number of 15 and 16 clue puzzles of this type ? Think big numbers > a million at least.

The 14 clue puzzles seem to have maxed out at 40,429 with the 13 cluers remaining at 286. Nothing has been formally proven but these lists are looking pretty solid.

The 15 cluers seem to be about 2 million and the 16 cluers ? Probably a lot !

I'm retiring from this thread :D. Leren
