X-Wing question

Postby BamaFan » Wed Jan 19, 2022 2:09 pm

If a sudoku contains a x-wing, must it be solved by recognizing the x-wing? I have recently solved many sudokus rated as “hard” by the app, but have never solved a x-wing. I am wondering if they are present, but because I am a noob I am just solving around them.

 6 . . 7 . 8 . . 3
 . . . . . . . 2 .
 . 5 . 9 . 2 . . 4

 . . . . 7 . . . 6
 . 9 . 1 . 5 . 7 . # Patterns Game 0234  #17 SE=3.2/3.2/3.2

This puzzle is from the Patterns Game.
It can be solved by finding 2 X-Wings (SE=3.2 rating) at the start, then it solves with singles only.
Or find the Hidden Pair (SE=3.4 rating) to start, and it then solves with singles only.
