Why isn't this a Sue-De-Coq?

Postby GlassWizzard » Sun Sep 11, 2022 1:36 pm

Hi, could someone take a look at image below please. I've highlighted what looks like a Sue-De-Coq, it ticks all the boxes I think. But the cell logic fails.

Unfortunately Hodoku crashed on me when I took that screenshot so I won't be able to actually do anything more with this or test anything, unless I manually enter the whole thing from the screenshot (which I might actually do).

Can anyone see why this isn't a Sue-De-Coq?

The intersection cells have 5 kinds of candidate, and the structure you found only contains 4 cells, which is clearly not sue de coq

Oh yeah, four candidates for two cells and five candidates for three cells. I forgot that :(

Thanks

Code: Select all
*------------------------------------------------*
| 136   135  4    | 367     567  367   | 2  8  9 |
| 268   7    268  | 68      9    1     | 3  4  5 |
| 38    358  9    | 348     458  2     | 1  6  7 |
|-----------------+--------------------+---------|
| 1279  129  1257 | 2469-7  3    46-7  | 49 57 8 |
| 4     289  278  | 29-78  c78   5     | 6  3  1 |
| 378-9 6    3578 |a4789    1   a478   |b49 57 2 |
|-----------------+--------------------+---------|
| 23789 2389 2378 | 347     478  34789 | 5  1  6 |
| 168   4    168  | 5       2    68    | 7  9  3 |
| 5     39   367  | 1       67   3679  | 8  2  4 |
*------------------------------------------------*

Sue de Coq: Base Cells r6c4 {4789} r6c6 {478} Pincer Cells r6c7 {49} + r5c5 {78} => - 7 r4c46, -78 r5c4, - 9 r6c1. Doesn't solve the puzzle but there is a Sue De Coq on offer.
