Very difficult, please help

Postby Jackie78 » Sun Nov 09, 2008 8:41 am

Hi,

can you help me what's the next logical step with this sudoku? I want to solve it logically, not trial and error, but I see no more pairs or tripples:

Thanks alot

Posting an image with only solved cells listed isn't going to get you any help (from me). I have no way of knowing which eliminations you've already found, so I (nor anyone else) can't tell you the next step.

Code: Select all
 *-----------*
 |.4.|92.|.58|
 |.69|..8|.2.|
 |.5.|.7.|.39|
 |---+---+---|
 |92.|6..|8..|
 |..5|.9.|.62|
 |6.3|...|9.5|
 |---+---+---|
 |.3.|..9|24.|
 |.7.|.6.|.9.|
 |.9.|.31|.8.|
 *-----------*

Okay, I understand, so here is the original:
Code: Select all
 *-----------*
 |.4.|92.|...|
 |.6.|..8|...|
 |...|.7.|.39|
 |---+---+---|
 |9..|6..|8..|
 |..5|...|..2|
 |6.3|...|9.5|
 |---+---+---|
 |...|..9|24.|
 |.7.|.6.|...|
 |...|.31|.8.|
 *-----------*

and this is what I found so far:
Code: Select all
 *-----------*
 |.4.|92.|.58|
 |.69|..8|.2.|
 |.5.|.7.|.39|
 |---+---+---|
 |92.|6..|8..|
 |..5|.9.|.62|
 |6.3|...|9.5|
 |---+---+---|
 |.3.|..9|24.|
 |.7.|.6.|.9.|
 |.9.|.31|.8.|
 *-----------*

Thanks alot

Jackie78 Just using the solved cells this is the status of the grid assuming you haven't located any of the pairs or triples. You have perhaps already got further.
Code: Select all
.------------------.------------------.------------------.
| 137   4     17   | 9     2     36   | 167   5     8    |
| 137   6     9    | 1345  145   8    | 147   2     147  |
| 128   5     128  | 14    7     46   | 146   3     9    |
:------------------+------------------+------------------:
| 9     2     147  | 6     145   3457 | 8     17    1347 |
| 1478  18    5    | 13478 9     347  | 1347  6     2    |
| 6     18    3    | 12478 148   247  | 9     17    5    |
:------------------+------------------+------------------:
| 158   3     168  | 578   58    9    | 2     4     167  |
| 12458 7     1248 | 2458  6     245  | 135   9     13   |
| 245   9     246  | 2457  3     1    | 567   8     67   |
'------------------'------------------'------------------'

From here there are two naked pairs, three sets of locked candidates and one naked triple.
If you apply the naked pairs another naked triple will appear.
There is nothing more difficult than these moves in this grid.

Just to remind you here is the link that Cec has already given you as to How to post grids for Help. As daj95376 has pointed out without seeing the status of the pencilmarks we don't know where to pick up your solution.

Okay, so here is my next try, these are my pencilmarks, looks similar to what you posted, I have eliminated some numbers already, but I don't see the naked pairs you mention, at least none that help me. So here is what's on my paper:

Code: Select all
.------------------.------------------.------------------.
| 137   4     17   | 9     2     36   | 167   5     8    |
| 137   6     9    | 1345  145   8    | 147   2     147  |
| 28    5     28   | 14    7     46   | 146   3     9    |
:------------------+------------------+------------------:
| 9     2     147  | 6     145   3457 | 8     17    34   |
| 47    18    5    | 18    9     347  | 34    6     2    |
| 6     18    3    | 12478 148   247  | 9     17    5    |
:------------------+------------------+------------------:
| 158   3     168  | 578   58    9    | 2     4     167  |
| 12458 7     1248 | 2458  6     245  | 135   9     13   |
| 245   9     246  | 2457  3     1    | 567   8     67   |
'------------------'------------------'------------------'

Thanks alot for being patient:)

Ok there was the {18} in box 4 you forgot to kill r4c3<>1, but you had found the other pairs and triples in mentioned already. Well done on sorting out the posting method.:)

What you have missed is a hidden single in column 4. That should get you going again.
