Trying to break the T & E habit

This one appeared in the Palo Alto Daily news on 8/15/07.

-2-/---/--4
-5-/3--/---
--4/7-9/--1

--3/-1-/---
-4-/-7-/-6-
---/-3-/5--

9--/4-8/2--
---/--3/-9-
1--/---/-4-

I solved it then using just one T & E fork, but would now like to do it with a single logic path.
This is as far as I got

67 2 19 / 56 8 156 / 79 3 4
678 5 19 / 3 4 16 / 79 28 268
3 68 4 / 7 2 9 / 68 5 1

256 9 3 / 568 1 256 / 4 7 28
258 4 58 / 9 7 25 / 1 6 3
26 1 7 / 68 3 4 / 5 28 9

9 3 56 / 4 56 8 / 2 1 7
4 7 2 / 1 56 3 / 68 9 568
1 68 568 / 2 9 7 / 3 4 568

Can anybody see what the next few steps are?
Thanks in advance
Bingham

I'll leave the Remote Pair in <68> for someone else.

bingham,

from the position you posted:
Code: Select all
*-----------------------------------------------*
| 67   2    19  | 56   8    156 | 79   3    4   |
| 678  5    19  | 3    4    16  | 79   28   268 |
| 3    68   4   | 7    2    9   | 68   5    1   |
|---------------+---------------+---------------|
|*256  9    3   | 568  1    256 | 4    7    28  |
|*258  4   -58  | 9    7    25  | 1    6    3   |
| 26   1    7   | 68   3    4   | 5    28   9   |
|---------------+---------------+---------------|
| 9    3    56  | 4    56   8   | 2    1    7   |
| 4    7    2   | 1    56   3   | 68   9    568 |
| 1    68   568 | 2    9    7   | 3    4    568 |
*-----------------------------------------------*
Eliminating 5 From r5c3 (Column 1 & Box 4 Box-line interaction)

You've obviously skipped this & did eliminations elsewhere, The whole puzzle could have been solved using column 1 & box 3 after singles

Very interesting daj95376, that is quite a challenge to try and solve it without singles, I personally find naked singles very annoying.

hi bingham,

after "hidden singles" we are at

Code: Select all
 . 2 . | . . . | . . 4
 . 5 . | 3 4 . | . . .
 . . 4 | 7 . 9 | . . 1
-------+-------+------
 . 9 3 | . 1 . | 4 . .
 . 4 . | 9 7 . | 1 6 3
 . 1 . | . 3 4 | 5 . 9
-------+-------+------
 9 3 . | 4 . 8 | 2 1 7
 4 7 . | 1 . 3 | . 9 .
 1 . . | . 9 7 | 3 4 .

in b7, the 2 is in c3 -- exclude this digit elsewhere in that column

ditto for the 5

-- these leave a "naked single" in r5c3

finish with "singles"

I was misunderstood. Sans Singles meant that I didn't include them in my solution listing. Obviously, I needed to use them!

A belated thank you to all of you. I had missed the locked candidates.
I am not yet cured of my T&E addiction, but I use it less often!
