Times puzzle 4-11-2005

Postby EDEN HEAVEN » Sun Apr 17, 2005 9:00 pm

Hi I just started doing sudoku a week ago. My question is when I did this puzzle and got down to the last 4 boxes A-4,A-5 and E-4, E-5 they were the exact reverse of each other and the same numbers in the same position 7,8. Logically how would you decide which to put where?

he said last week, so I guess he means 11th April :)

Also it would be easier if you use r4c1 (for example) to indicate row 4 cell 1 (instead of A-4)...

(I assume you mean row 4, column 1 with A-4:)

How did you solve the puzzle?

If I look at the puzzle: http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,18209-1561593,00.html then I see that r4c5 is already filled in... (which is what you probably mean with E-4)

Hello, Eden Heaven.

You don't have a "Location", but I'm guessing that you are in the United States - judging from the way you write the date?

But if you are from the US, the puzzle you are describing is probably not from The Times (of London). Would that be right? Perhaps it's a puzzle in the New York Post, or one of the other papers in the US.

If you are asking about a puzzle which appeared in an American paper, please let me know and I'll switch this enquiry out of "The Times" forum into the "Other papers" forum. I have been longing for someone to post an enquiry like this in the "Other papers" forum!
