Stumped by this:

3*8|9*5|*6*
***|37*|**8
5**|***1**
——————
78*|6**|**9
*5*|***|*1*
6**|**2|*57
——————
**2|***|**5
1**|*48|***
*6*|7*9|4*1

Can take it a fair way easily. Then no X-wings, swordfishes, twos, threes or fours etc.. Sudoku Susser (Mac) can only solve by citing something called a "deadly pattern" that has to be avoided.

Any comment?

Thanks.

This puzzle has one x-wing and nothing harder is needed.

Thanks wintder. I have operated that X-wing and then get to:-

3*8|915|*6*
***|37*|5*8
5**|28*1*3
....................
78*|651|**9
25*|**7|*1*
6**|**2|*57
.....................
**2|163|*85
1**|548|***
865|729|431

What do I do now?

If it helps here's my effort to date with all alternatives shown:-

3 247 98|9 1 5|27 6 24
94 1249 1469|3 7 46|5 249 8
5 49 4697|2 8 46|1 479 3
...............................................
7 8 34|6 5 1|23 24 9
2 5 349|48 39 7|368 1 46
6 1349 1349|48 39 2|38 5 7
................................................
49 497 2|1 6 3|79 8 5
1 39 379|5 4 8|269 27 26
8 6 5| 7 2 9|4 3 1

I really would like some help here how to proceed. Anybody?

Thanks.

Thanks Dan. It's amazing how you can stare at something until nearly blind and still miss something so blindingly obvious. Dear oh dear!
