system of equations

Can this be solved by a huge system of equations using a program such as Maple?
With 27 equations and restrictions on the range of the variables, and since we know beforehand that a solution exists, isn't this reduced to the problem of row reducing a matrix?

Certainly it is an optimization problem. we can genrate sudoku numbers by solving system of equations and putting restrictions . I am also new to sudoku puzzles . But i am enjoying it . Do you know anyother algorithm or nasty trick that could generate sudoku square ?

Usually there are more than 27 unknowns, so I think the answer is no!
