SUPERIOR SUDOKU 18 - part 2

Postby NKL » Wed Nov 30, 2005 8:17 pm

I see that there has been another post on this but I am stuck at a different point and would appreciate anyone's help. I am particularly disappointed as I have used two X wings but to no avail. Sorry to be dim. Thanks.

Code: Select all
               | 24   24        |
               |      16   16   |
               | 79   79        |
---------------+----------------+----------------
     26   17   | 126            | 167
26             | 1679 679  27   |           12
          17   | 126            | 167  36   123
---------------+----------------+----------------
26             |      176  27   |           17
     26        | 2467 24        |      36   37
               |           16   | 16

I can't see anything from this - possibly colouring may be needed. But I can't dub into Simple Sudoku without the original puzzle - all the clues/numbers you've already entered. Just the remaining candidates don't seem to be enough.

If no-one gives the next step, can you post the puzzle, as you've completed to this point?

I think the original puzzle was solved with Xwings but here you have a swordfish of 2s r148 c245 => eliminate 2 at r6c4.

That gives a triple in r6 => eliminate 1 at r6c9 => r6c9 must be 2 => solution.

Actually you don't need the triple.

PS : I like it when Shazbot gets to a puzzle first - he always sets it out so nicely!:D

If you look at the other post for this Puzzle you will find that you can solve the Puzzle with an X - Wing on 2, in R5C1, R7C1, R5C6, R7C6 (* cells). which allows you to eliminate the 2's in R5C4 & R5C9. Leading to a Naked Single (**).

Thanks Crazy Girl, I did have a look for references to the puzzle in other posts but none stood out (only #11 and #14 if I remember), so I went to that site, but didn't have enough time to figure out where it was. I know now - thanks.

Thanks to Crazy Girl. I had looked at the first post but I had seen the x wing of 2s and applied it, however, I had not applied it across to column 9. Another step in logic learnt for me. Thanks.

Well, I never! Gender can be such a confusing issue. The very thing I have accused others of previously and I am guilty of it too. Sorry!:D

PS : Now your music poll response fits!
