From your post I think this is where you are stuck.

Code: Select all
 . . 8 | . 2 . | . . 4
 1 6 . | 4 . . | . 8 .
 4 . 5 | . . 7 | . . .
-------+-------+------
 6 . . | 2 . . | . 4 .
 . 1 . | . . 4 | . 7 .
 . 5 4 | . . 6 | . . 9
-------+-------+------
 . . . | 9 . . | 4 . 3
 . 9 . | . 4 3 | . 1 2
 . 4 . | . 6 . | 8 9 .

With pencilmarks

Code: Select all
--------------------+----------------------+------------------|
 379    37    8     | 1356   2       159   | 135679  356  4   |
 1      6     2379  | 4      359     59    | 23579   8    57  |
 4      23    5     | 1368   1389    7     | 12369   236  16  |
--------------------+----------------------+------------------|
 6      378*  379   | 2      135879  1589* | 135     4    18^ |
 2389   1     239   | 358    3589    4     | 2356    7    68  |

 578    9     67    | 578    4       3     | 567     1    2   |
 2357   4     1237  | 157    6       125   | 8       9    57  |
--------------------+----------------------+------------------|

X-Wing in 8 at R47C26 (see *), so R4C9=1(^)
Note: 5 in Box 6 in column 7 due to Naked {5, 7} Pair

Then basic steps will get you to:
Code: Select all
--------------------+--------------------+----------------|
 379    37    8     | 6     2      159   | 139   5    4   |
 1      6     239   | 4     359    59    | 239   8    7   |
 4      23    5     | 18    189    7     | 19    23   6   |
--------------------+--------------------+----------------|
 6      378*  379   | 2     379    89*   | 5     4    1   |
 239    1     239   | 35    359    4     | 6     7    8   |
 78     5     4     | 178   178    6     | 23    23   9   |
--------------------+--------------------+----------------|
 257    278*  127   | 9     157    1258* | 4     6    3   |
 58     9     6     | 58    4      3     | 7     1    2   |
 237    4     1237  | 17    6      12    | 8     9    5   |
--------------------+--------------------+----------------|

With the Naked {2, 3} Pair in Box 6 and Row 3, this leaves a Hidden Single. After this basic steps are needed to complete it.

If you can't understand this, let me know.:D

Hi Crazy Girl,

The naked pair [23] in box 6 will enable these same candidates to be excluded from other cells in this row leaving [78] in cell r6c1 but can't see how the other naked pair [23] in row 3 leads anywhere. I get to the following pencilmark grid with no further hints to proceed:
Code: Select all
 *--------------------------------------------------------------------*
 | 3579   37     8      | 6      2      159    | 139    35     4      |

 |----------------------+----------------------+----------------------|
 | 6      378    379    | 2      379    89     | 5      4      1      |
 | 239    1      239    | 35     359    4      | 6      7      8      |
 | 78     5      4      | 178    178    6      | 23     23     9      |

cec,
I missed out an original clue in R3C3=5, so sorry there.

because of the 2,3 pair in column 8 (rows 3&6). this not helped by the fact that i missed a clue:!::!:

I had done this on my paper copy but missed it in this post.

Look in Box 2 and see where 3 can go:idea:

Off to catch 20 winks now...

Crazy Girl,
Thanks for clearing that up. Yes, I see where the 3 must go in Box 2.
