From this early point I laid a forcing chain eliminating the 4 in r6c9 -> r45c8=79 -> r3c8=5 -> r2c8=3 -> r1c2=3 and r3c2=9 -> r4c2=6 -> r5c2=1 -> r7c2=4 -> r7c98 = -4 -> r89c9=4 <> r6c9=4

With finding this contradiction in column 9, the puzzle can be solved easily by singles and one pair.

Dear Pat, I didn't mention this because this is another forum an there is no obligation here to refer to other forums when something was posted there. When I make a puzzle I produce very often several levels of difficulty and then the SA-Forum gets the versions that matches in difficulty with the Sudoku-Assistenten 2.0. I don't want to post a certain puzzle in both forums. Sometimes I make here and there a reference to some mutable clues so that both forums will have the other puzzles too. In this case I didn't. Shame, shame shame! ;-) At the beginning of my postings here I received some complaints that my puzzles were to easy for the people here. That's why this forum will get mostly the more difficult puzzles and and I think it is fine like this.

And here is a more easy puzzle.
Code: Select all
. . . . 8 . . . .
. 9 . 5 . 1 . 7 .
. . 2 . . . 3 . .
. 7 . . . . . 5 .
6 . . . 4 . . . 9
. 8 . . . . . 1 .
. . 3 . . . 6 . .
. 1 . 9 . 2 . 8 .
. . . . 7 . . . .
SE 4.0 There is a mutable clue in r2c8 from 7 to 2 which gives one more triplet. But the difficulty remains

How about this fully symmetric pattern?

Postby claudiarabia » Fri Sep 21, 2007 3:17 pm

I searched a lot of time till I finally was successful with this:
Code: Select all
. . . 9 . 2 . . .
. 7 . . . . . 8 .
. . 6 . 5 . 1 . .
1 . . . . . . . 9
. . 5 . 6 . 3 . .
4 . . . . . . . 6
. . 2 . 3 . 7 . .
. 9 . . . . . 6 .
. . . 4 . 1 . . .
SE 8.5 Minimal, untouchable

Any easier puzzle with this pattern?

Claudia

the squaration of the circle

Postby claudiarabia » Sat Sep 22, 2007 11:42 am

Hi Mike,

impressive work you did on the pattern
Code: Select all
 . . . x . x . . .
 . x . . . . . x .
 . . x . x . x . .
 x . . . . . . . x
 . . x . x . x . .
 x . . . . . . . x
 . . x . x . x . .
 . x . . . . . x .
 . . . x . x . . .
While changing the outer columns I realized that this pattern is morphologic equivalent to
Code: Select all
x . . . . . . . x
. x . . x . . x .
. . . x . x . . .
. . x . . . x . .
. x . . x . . x .
. . x . . . x . .
. . . x . x . . .
. x . . x . . x .
x . . . . . . . x

The world of fully symmetric puzzles seems to be a village instead.
