I have created this thread for people who would like to know about the topics discussed in the "Sudoku's Maths" Thread which is over 30 pages long. The idea is that people can post only relevant infomation here and we can condense the thread.

The forum is a discussion board, not an encyclopedia.

I suggest you look at Wikipedia's Sudoku pages, which we regularly update, instead:

• Mathematics of Sudoku
• List of Sudoku terms and jargon

I recognize the frustration of trying to get acquainted with the Maths thread

This issue has been brought up before (~7/05 @ ~pg25) and there was little interest at the time in splitting the thread. The discussion here is rather detailed, meaning it would be hard to make progress on the math challenges without easy access to the past history.

Summarizing the results is a worthy goal, but a useful summary can't be created without considerable effort. If you want to look for a particular issue, use Search. And as Ed mentioned, we try to keep Wikipedia updated with the major results, so check that too.
