I have made Sudoku as a game and you can view it in my blogsite
www.arniz.blogspot.com
Let me have your comments there or here

can't you let the player himself choose the symbols ?
Or would that give uninteresting games ?

It's also easier with numbers rather than geometric shapes IMO

Can we play against each other or against the computer ?

A simpler version: take only one symbol, players place it
alternatingly, the first player who places in an already
occupied row, col, block looses. Hmm, that's probably too easy
so we should maybe add diagonals

Thank you for visiting the site. I tried out both your suggestions of placing the markers on one's own but I found that there is more strategy in my method. You see if one has a winning move you can disturb his next planned strategic move. The 2nd was to play individually. This will take much longer. As far as numerals were concerned I though of shearing the game away from any thing mathematical and besides children like shapes and colors. I know quite a few people shy away from SUDOKU and play crosswords as they are afraid of numbers.

**maybe. I haven't tried. But it's a more "artificial" rule more distant
from sudoku

** numbers are harmless, as long as you don't calculate with 'em !
** it's just awful to draw pentas etc. and to talk about the moves

-------------------
typo : 1st player wins with b3 (not b5)
a1,..., I prefer numbers increasing upwards as with chessgames
or coordinate systems

Well, in my blogsite under"Sudoku- my game" I clearly indicated that it is a "BOARD"game and has already got a pool of "markers". So there is no bother to draw pentas and hexagons. Like in chess you just place the markers and these are called "moves". I cant see what you are getting at ! I must be dumb !
