Code: Select all

Think about where 2s can go in box 9.

Then see where 3s can go in column 7.

If you look in column 7, there is just one place a 4 can go, Then, in the same column, there is just one place a 6 can go. After that there is just one six left to be placed.

Next look at what it takes to complete box 5 and row 6.

It's just singles and hidden singles to the end.

It gets easier with practice.

If you want to solve these on a computer instead of pencil and paper, check this program out:

http://angusj.com/sudoku/

It's a great teacher.

I just did a couple of the evil puzzles (highest level) from that website and neither needed anything more complex than naked triples, which probably means it's marketed at the pencil and paper crowd.

I use the Simple Sudoku program from the site listed by Sped and I also think it is great. The only problem is it makes puzzles needing only naked triples too easy.
