Advanced methods and approaches for solving Sudoku puzzles

stuck, help appreciated

I would be very grateful to anyone who could help me out with the following. I just started sudokus a week ago, and this is my first from the "hard" level on websudoku. I am trying to learn some more advanced techniques, but I just can't wait...

*-----------------------------------------------------------*
| 1 6 8 | 7 29 29 | 4 3 5 |
| 4 27 5 | 3 8 6 | 12 9 127 |
| 3 27 9 | 4 5 1 | 8 67 267 |
|-------------------+-------------------+-------------------|
| 257 158 6 | 58 29 4 | 1259 157 3 |
| 257 4 3 | 6 1 279 | 259 8 27 |
| 9 158 17 | 58 3 27 | 6 157 4 |
|-------------------+-------------------+-------------------|
| 6 15 2 | 9 7 3 | 15 4 8 |
| 57 9 17 | 2 4 8 | 3 156 16 |
| 8 3 4 | 1 6 5 | 7 2 9 |
*-----------------------------------------------------------*

Thanks in advance!

One thing jumps out: You have 2 naked "29's" in column 5 which allows you to remove any other 2's and 9's in the column.

Oops, sorry, I thought the one with additional 29's was in col 5 not 6. Man, I wish these things would line up better.

I see the same problem I had last week. Is there a candidate in row6 that can only be in one place?

I think you're right Hud. There is only one possible place for a "2" in row 6.

That should help a bunch. Man, that was too easy. I thought it might have been something more complicated.

Thanks!

I looked at one all day last week and gave up. It was the same deal. I think that's part of the learning process of Suboku. Since then, the only problem I've had is screwing up my pencil marks. Putting them where they don't have to be isn't as bad as omitting one.
