some hard puzzles

Postby Guest » Mon Apr 10, 2006 6:55 pm

Hi all,
I've published site with sudoku puzzles. The address is:
http://sudokufun.sourceforge.net/
(very basic page:).
The project is under:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/sudokufun

There are numerous puzzles sorted by difficulty.
Can you give me feedback about the most difficult puzzles, which I was able to create (=generate)?

i downloded 32503. it needed naked pairs to solve. One criticism, the puzzle isn't symmetrical

Hi Taab.

I have tried puzzle 201731 (which is the last on your list and seems to be the hardest) and the more complex technique it needed to be solved was naked quads: so, I think your hardest puzzles are in fact very easy. Perhaps you should consider the implementation of more advanced techniques like X-Wing, Swordfish, and others discussed under the "Advanced solving techniques" section of this forum, in order to make your puzzles more interesting.
Regarding the critic made by Ab, I don't see where is the problem of a puzzle not being symmetrical, as long as it is valid. In fact, I personally prefer non-symetrical puzzles.
I have also noted that the web-page where you have collected the puzzles is very hard to open (at least in my computer): I have only succeeded once, and in all others tries Internet Explorer got stuck and I had to close it.

the last puzzle on taab's list
is the one with the highest score, 201731, by taab's system of scoring.

the Pappocom software rates it as Hard.
Code: Select all
 . . . | . . 8 | . . .
 . . . | 2 . 9 | 8 3 .
 5 . 9 | . . . | . . .
-------+-------+------
 . . . | . . . | . 9 .
 6 . 5 | 7 . . | . . .
 . . 4 | . . . | 1 . 5
-------+-------+------
 . . 2 | . 6 . | 4 . 8
 . . . | . . . | . 1 .
 . 7 . | . 4 3 | 6 . 2

i solved it with a duo + box-line interaction + another duo,
so i never did see any "quad"
- still, this is pleasantly tougher than the average Hard!

I checked the same puzzle.......

The puzzle can be solved using hidden doubles (your speicalty Pat) only following box-line intercations
