Smarter Sudoku

Hi,

Sudoku Scratch Pad (http://sudoku.harryonline.net/) is an online Sudoku tool, where you can solve any Sudoku (every day three Sudokus are created at different levels, or you can import your own). It offers some helpful tools, that make solving a bit easier. Most importantly, the highlighting tool, with which you can easily see where numbers are still possible, and click to fill them in. See the explanatory text on the site for more information.

I am working on a new version, which will use more Javascript/Ajax to make it respond faster, and to make it easier to use on smart phones and tablets.

To further improve the new version, I appreciate any feedback that regular Sudoku players can give, especially those that have experience on other online Sudoku sites as well. Which tools work best, how could they be improved, what tools are you missing?

With kind regards,

Harry Oosterveen

Sudoku Scratch Pad has now been replaced by SmarterSudoku, www.smartersudoku.com

It still has the same tools, but a more versatile coloring tool. The site plays very well on tablets and mobile phones too.

Enjoy!

SmarterSudoku hardest puzzle of July

Postby harry » Mon Aug 03, 2015 12:54 pm

Since 1 July, the new Sudoku site SmarterSudoku is online. It serves three new Sudoku puzzles every day When someone solves a Sudoku, the time and tools used are registered, and based on this, a score is calculated: the more time is used, or the more use is made of the tools like hints or automatic placement of pencil marks, the higher this score. So it gives an indicaton of the difficulty of the Sudoku, see FAQ in the Help section.

The hardest puzzle in July was the tough puzzle of July 14, http://www.smartersudoku.com/11034, with a median score of 1916 (almost 32 minutes if not using the tools). Can you do it better?

Tip: go to Settings and enable to Color tool, it might come in handy.
