Searching good sites for intermediate/advanced puzzles

Postby Instinct » Mon Oct 12, 2015 8:01 pm

Hi, does anyone know any good websites where there are puzzles with varying difficulties up to actually hard ones?

I've found that on most sites the so called "expert" difficulties are nothing but finding singles and possibly a bunch of pairs, it's pretty boring because it isn't hard at all, it's just time consuming to pencil the entire grid and that's it.

The other problem is that I find Sudoku puzzles that are claimed to be really hard by the website, but in fact have over 500 solutions confirmed by recursion, so that's pretty useless too. Like on this site http://www.sudoku.com/

I need good puzzles to improve my skills. I used to play on http://mypuzzle.org/sudoku. The Diabolic difficulty used to be challenging but not anymore after solving so many. It's nothing too advanced actually. Singles, pairs, triples, X-wings,Swordfish, Y-wings, XY-chains and Simple coluring are enough for almost all. Sometimes I have to calculate a bit more other than these basic techniques but they're usually in a straightforward easy to follow chain, with usually no more than 1 Almost Locked Set in it.

I'm not really an expert by all means, I just need something slightly more difficult than this, so that I can keep improving my solving technique.

Thanks in Advance,

In$tinct

Peace.

I don't know about web sites, but have you considered a computer Sudoku program like Simple Sudoku or Hodoku? They'll generate puzzles at a level that you choose.

Try here:

http://www.saueregger.at/sudoku/

Today's very hard:

000017020750006009201080600000400250000601000096002000005060703600700095080590000

It needs only wings to solve, but I believe the site has harder puzzles.

Try this:

036200700740000000000607000502300040800000009060005102000509000000000076007002350

It needs more than the W-wing I saw. I know that Helmut, the site owner, favors M-wings.
