when pencil marking i go through the boxes and enter numbers in one value at a time, i enter all the 1s in the puzzle then after all are entered i start 2s and repeat through 9 it takes a long time and i was wondering if ther is a faster method

If you are systematically running through the digits 1-9, then try to see if there are any locked candidates or even hopefully hidden singles to discover before you add the marks.

I always start with the digits that occur most frequently in the grid, more chance of getting a placement or detecting a pair early.

hey Glyn,
i admire your patience!

Kunegochu is no longer a new member,
and should know by now how to compose a meaningful subject-line

yet what i see -- again and again -- is "can some people please help" or similar meaningless subject-lines
i had recently responded to one of these Kunegochu inquiries, and at that time decided i wouldn't even read any further mystery-Topics by the same member -- what do you think?

    very true
but at least those advertizers give a clear subject-line --
if i'm not interested i needn't read the Topic
now if advertizers post a Topic "please help"
surely they'd be banned for abusing the forum
