An xy-wing is three weakly connected bivalue cells.
(x=y)cell1 - (y=z)cell2 - (z=x)cell3

If instead of a bivalue cell you had an almost locked set resulting in a strong link between 2 of its values it would be an als xy-wing.

(2=6)r7c5,r9c46 - (6=9)r9c2 - (9=2)r8c3
