Am I correct in thinking there is just one correct solution, however several solutions that will also complete some puzzles.

Well no, there is only one solution... (but ofcourse you can reach that solution using different techniques... (guessing, logic, ...))

My very first attempt was yesterday, I made an error in my choice of numbers, but managed to complete the puzzle by using different numbering elsewhere in the puzzle.

I now uderstand - thanks.
