I've been trying to find out what a Kraken cell is. But when I search for it all I get is Kraken fish. Can you provide a link to some site that explains it?

We've been using Kraken on this forum for some time to refer to a move resulting in a common outcome for all instances of a particular digit in a row, column or box, or all digits in a cell. The idea is that each component of the Kraken move is the start of a forcing chain - an extension of the idea of a Kraken fish where the fin is at the start of a forcing chain. Nobody has been complaining about this use of the term, so there seems to be general agreement that it's OK. I must admit that I can't remember when Kraken was first used in this context on this forum. Maybe someone with more knowledge of the history of this forum can provide a better answer.

That clears up the mystery. "Kraken cell" has been an arcane term and I thought that the cell had some special properties, but it boils down to a fancier term for a triple implication chain.

I've revisited that Kraken Column.
The layout looks cluttered when the all the chains are shown together, but more compact than showing several layouts.
I suppose if there were four chains the format would be aA_aA.
