First thing I found, no time to look for better (stte) solutions right now.

Code: Select all
.----------------------.--------------------.-------------------.
| c23459  1235   12359 | 7     2358   258   |  6     c48     25 |
|  235    8      6     | 4     1235   125   |  2-9   d5(9)   7  |
|  245    7      25    | 258   6      9     |  48     3      1  |
:----------------------+--------------------+-------------------:
|  1      2356   235   | 9     2458   2568  |  7     d45     25 |
|  8      4     a259   | 1     25     7     | a2(9)   6      3  |
| b259    256    7     | 256   245    3     |  14     145-9  8  |
:----------------------+--------------------+-------------------:
|  6      9      158   | 3     7      158   |  18     2      4  |
|  23     123    1238  | 268   1289   4     |  5      7      69 |
|  7      125    4     | 2568  12589  12568 |  3      18     69 |
'----------------------'--------------------'-------------------'

9r5c(7=3) - r6c1 = (94)r1c18 - (4=59)r42c8 => -9 r2c7,r6c8; lste

Edit: A shortened version borrowed from eleven's solution:

(9)r6c1 = (9-4)r1c1 = (459)r142c8 => -9 r6c8; lcte

Added: This is certainly not better, but it's stte...

Eleven, I see where you get -9r6c8, and I see where you also get -2r2c1, but I'm missing how you get -2r13c1. Where am I going wrong?

If you look at the blue digits, r3c3=2 or r1c1=9 and r3c1=4 (or all are true). In any case 2 cannot be in r13c1.
You could also write (2=5)r3c3 - r123 = (5-9)r6c1 = hp 49r13c1 ... [edit2] ah, you just proposed that

I wondered the same thing for a while. I think it would have been clearer as a combined node: ...(5-9)r6c1 = (94)r13c1...

A very cool "Hydra" solution anyway! It also made me notice that I'd used an inefficient chain myself :? Using eleven's chain my solution would have been:

(9)r6c1 = (9-4)r1c1 = (459)r142c8 => -9 r6c8; lcte
