No longer in the Web

Sadly the content on forbidding chains by Steve K was removed from the the site sudoku.com.au.
(the page on forbidding chains still exists but the content was removed)

As a matter of fact, all content produced by Steve K was removed from that site.

So, only here (NSPF) one can still find some of Steve K views on how to solve a sudoku puzzle.
One example of that can be found in the thread: "New Multi-Spoke Pattern" by Myth Jellies (Thu Jan 25, 2007).

EDIT: Thank you 1to9only !! (for the next post in this thread). After noticing what happened with that content, I forgot completely about that possibility!

The site has been captured by the Internet Archive Wayback Machine so those pages exist in archived form.

The forum and tips do not appear in the 2025 captures.

combined-overlapping-almost-locked-sets-rule-coals-t4863.html#p35018

you may also look into this method for finding als Dof > 1 which is essentially what the bispoked concepts was doing.

and almost-locked-rules-for-now-t2510.html for further reading about als in general.

all of this early work lead to more generalized concept for als xz,xy als chain rules and distributed disjointed subsets {als with dof x}, msls and multi fish.
Some do, some teach, the rest look it up.
