NJ Star Ledger 9/27 HELP PLEASE!!

Postby chefpilsy » Wed Sep 28, 2005 9:45 pm

Hi everyone, I'm stuck on the following puzzle (82519) published in the NJ Star Ledger 9/27:

*8* 26* 5**
1** 95* **8
**5 84* 9**

312 698 745
*5* 472 13*
*7* 315 ***

**7 184 2**
2** *36 **1
**1 *29 *6*

This was the HARD category. I'm trying to learn solving it using logic rather than guessing. I have a lot of numbers penciled in the corners but didn't know how to show that.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated!!!

Hey chef, no-one's answering! Have you worked it out yet?

There's a hidden pair of 5,7 in row 8. This means you can eliminate the 8,9 in r8c8. From here you'll find that there is only one place for an 8 in column 8.

From here you should see a lot of naked and hidden singles. Does that help?
