Newbie Question: Backtracking

Postby Doyle » Mon Jul 11, 2005 8:54 pm

New at this (2 weeks) via the Washington Post. I'm solving with pencil on the newspaper page. Twice last week I had an "Aghhh" moment, realized that my faulty logic had resulted in an incorrect answer, saw the contradiction just as I was near the "end." I assume not, but is there any way to recover, find and remove the incorrect entries? I've been reduced to hand-drawing a new grid and starting over from scratch. Thanks, I can see that I'll become addicted, if not already.

As far as I'm aware 'backtracking' isn't possible, unless you take note of every move that you make as you make it and why.

Look around this very forum, there are printable blank grids posted online.
