Look for more basic moves locked candidates, pairs, triples etc

I see one advanced move an xwing 8r19c25 removes the 8 in r1c7 and r9c3

I'll be a bit more specific than Dan.

Code: Select all
*-------------------------------------------*
| 2  78 3    | 4    89  1    | 689  679  5  |
| 5  1  478  | 2689 3   2689 | 289  2479 79 |
| 6  9  48   | 28   7   5    | 1    24   3  |
|------------+---------------+--------------|
| 8  3  1    | 67   5   67   | 29   29   4  |
| 7  6  9    | 23   4   23   | 5    8    1  |
| 4  25 25   | 89   1   89   | 7    3    6  |
|------------+---------------+--------------|
|*39 45 56-7 |*379  2  *379  | 46-9 1    8  |
| 39 24 278  | 1    6   3789 | 49   5    79 |
| 1  78 678  | 5    89  4    | 3    679  2  |
*-------------------------------------------*

A Naked Triple (379) in the 3 cells marked * in Row 7 removes a 7 and a 9 from that row. There is then a Claiming Pair of 7's in Box 8 r7c46 that removes the 7 from r8c6 (no diagram).

Code: Select all
*--------------------------------------------*
| 2  *78 3    | 4    *89 1    | 69-8 679  5  |
| 5   1  478  | 2689  3  2689 |#289  2479 79 |
| 6   9  48   | 28    7  5    | 1    24   3  |
|-------------+---------------+--------------|
| 8   3  1    | 67    5  67   | 29   29   4  |
| 7   6  9    | 23    4  23   | 5    8    1  |
| 4   25 25   | 89    1  89   | 7    3    6  |
|-------------+---------------+--------------|
| 39  45 56   | 379   2  379  | 46   1    8  |
| 39  24 278  | 1     6  389  | 49   5    79 |
| 1  *78 67-8 | 5    *89 4    | 3    679  2  |
*--------------------------------------------*

A Column X Wing in 8's in the cells marked * removes two 8's as shown. This solves the puzzle via a cascade of singles. The first one is that the 8 in r2c7 (marked #) is the only one left in Column 7 or Box 8, so you can place it there.
