So that means....

Postby skibum » Sun Jan 01, 2006 5:59 am

that I can eliminate the 4's in the other cells of columns 2 and 5, and the 9's in the other cells of columns 1 and 6. Is that correct? I've not understood x-wings until now. I'm kind of new at this, and I love it!!

Also, how exactly did you get the code box around my grid? Do I just highlight it and hit the code button? I tried that and it didn't seem to work.

Thanks again for your help.

Hi Donetta,
A few tips to get you along further:

Click on here to learn the basic terms used when submitting/reading posts .

Puzzles should be submitted on a grid so they are easy to read and suitable for direct loading into members' preferred program solvers. Suggestions to prepare such a grid are described in previous posts such as clicking on this thread.

As for the use of the code to show the "pencil marks" ('clues' plus 'candidates') I'm still learning this myself but hopefully others will help you after new year's day. In the meantime you may wish to look at the following sites which describe many of the sudoku solving techniques:

Thank you all. I solved the puzzle using the x-wings pointed out. I will practice looking for them myself now. And the links were very helpful. I'm sure I'll be referring to them often. Happy New Year, everyone!!
