have a good look at box 5 - you should spot a pair. this should allow you to place a number in box 8

Im new here... What do you mean with "pair"? And box number 5 is the on in the middle? I guess they are numbered 1 to 9 like

Yep - have at look at the following for basic terms:

Animator has recently described "pairs" in another post:

http://forum.enjoysudoku.com/viewtopic.php?t=496

So, look at box 5 and find 2 cells that can only have 2 numbers....this means there cannot be any other numbers in those cells....

Once you have found these 2 numbers/cells, look to see where the other numbers can go.....

you need to study boxes 4 and 6. You should look carefully where one particular number may be in these boxes and then you should be able to place a number in r5c4...
