8.23...51..3..1...1.4.9.7..937....1224..3..7......23..315.2...742687.1.578951.2..

The next step is a hidden single in block 5. Continue on with singles and locked candidates for a while. Eventually I used a hidden pair and a Finned X-Wing, though there are several other approaches.

As Jason said r6c5 is the only 7 in box 5 so it must be 7. A few other basic moves will get you to here.

Code: Select all
*-----------------------------------------------------*
| 8    9    2     | 3   b46   7     |a46   5    1     |
| 56   7    3     | 246  58   1     | 9    26-4 48    |
| 1    56   4     | 26   9    58    | 7    236  38    |
|-----------------+-----------------+-----------------|
| 9    3    7     | 46   4568 58    | 8    1    2     |
| 2    4    8     | 1    3    9     | 5-4  7    6     |
| 56   56   1     | 7   c48   2     | 3   d48   9     |
|-----------------+-----------------+-----------------|
| 3    1    5     | 9    2    46    | 468  468  7     |
| 4    2    6     | 8    7    3     | 1    9    5     |
| 7    8    9     | 5    1    46    | 2    346  34    |
*-----------------------------------------------------*

At this point there is a Skyscraper in 4's in cells marked abc and d; at least one of cells a and d must be 4, so r2c8 and r5c7 can't be 4. The puzzle solves easily after that.

If you are unfamiliar with Skyscrapers here is a link to a site that discusses them http://hodoku.sourceforge.net/en/tech_sdp.php#sk

I'm not quite sure what your question means. If you are referring to the PM diagram, I can create a text diagram for any puzzle status using my solver. I then copy and paste the diagram into the reply box, select it and click on the Code button.

This ensures that the PM diagram is displayed in a fixed with font, like Courier, and is easy to read.

Hope this answers your question, Leren

I was just wondering which solver program produced the image at the start of this post.
I'm also wondering how the image was imported into the post.

If you go to the post and click on 'QUOTE' (upper right), you'll see how it's done.

As i understood what you may note hereunder.
[code
Code: Select all
*-----------------------------*
|         |     4   |  4      |
|         |  4      |    *4  4|
|       4 |         |         |
|---------+---------+---------|
|         |  4  4   | *4      |
|    4    |         |         |
|         |    *4   |     4   |
|---------+---------+---------|
|         |        4|  4 *4   |
|  4      |         |         |
|         |        4|    *4  4|
*-----------------------------*
[/code]
The number with [ * ] cause contradiction, so can be eliminated.
for instance if r6c5=4, row 1 lost 4 > contradiction
r6c5=4 > r1c5<>4, r4c7=4 > r1c7<>4
then after so called [stte]. Regards
