Unfortunately this puzzle has multiple solutions. You got as far as you can by using logic and you need to make a guess to continue.

Try the following:
Put a 2 at r3c4.
Put a 7 at r3c7.
Put a 7 at r8c2.
Put a 3 at r8c5.
This will create a unique solution and let you solve the rest of the puzzle by logic alone.

It does not make sence.
Are you sure that the only way to solve this one is to GUESS ?
Thanks,
Janiv Ratson.

Yes, using the grid you provided, there are multiple solutions (142 to be exact) and the only way to get any of the solutions is to make a guess -- in fact, you may have to guess more than once to get some solutions.

Your starting grid isn't symmetrical. Are you sure you copied the grid correctly? Where did you get this puzzle from?

Hello and thanks.
I copied the board from the daily newspaper, and I verified that I copied correctly.

I found few more correct numbers by guessing and I got the following:

*** 8*5 16*
**8 4*6 9**
*6* *** 458

346 *** 571
*** 754 396
795 361 284

61* 5** ***
**9 6*2 *1*
**3 1*7 6**

10x.

Well, that's progress. Now there are only 20 possible solutions.

What is the name of the newspaper you got this puzzle from?

Wayne can verify this if he's reading, but it looks like only Haaretz and the Jerusalem Post are carrying Pappocom puzzles.

The nice thing about Pappocom puzzles is that each one has a unique solution and does not require any guessing to solve.

Yediot Achronot does not get genuine Sudoku puzzles from Pappocom.

Scrose is right. The only Israeli papers I supply are Haaretz and the Jerusalem Post. There might be one more, soon.
