This puzzle solves with moves that we call here "Basics". Basics includes naked and hidden singles, pointing pairs and triples, and naked and hidden pairs, triples and quads.

There are a number of moves: 8 pointing pairs/triples, 2 naked pairs, 1 naked triple and 1 hidden triple/naked quad. I've shown this last one in the diagram.

Code: Select all
*--------------------------------------------------------------------------------*
| 138     6       2        | 5       7       9        |#1348   #1348   #138      |
| 1378    5       9        | 16      38      4        |*67-138 #138     2        |
| 17      348     348      | 2       16      38       |9       *5-1    *567-1    |
|--------------------------+--------------------------+--------------------------|
| 6       1348    3458     | 39      2       358      | 1348    7       1389     |
| 2       348     3478     | 67      3689    1        | 5       3489    3689     |
| 9       138     3578     | 4       3568    3578     | 1368    2       1368     |
|--------------------------+--------------------------+--------------------------|
| 5       7       6        | 8       4       2        | 13      139     139      |
| 4       2       1        | 39      39      6        | 78      58      578      |
| 38      9       38       | 17      15      57       | 2       6       4        |
*--------------------------------------------------------------------------------*

Hidden Triple (567) r2c7, r3c89 or Naked Quad (1348) r1c789, r2c8. Both => - 138 r2c7, - 1 r3c78.

The puzzle solves in singles from there. This puzzle would be regarded as too easy to be of any real interest on this forum, but would be a quite reasonable one on more commercial sites

too easy to be of any real interest?

Leren,

I agree that this puzzle doesn't need an explanation on how to solve, but are there no members of this forum that might enjoy solving it?

There are hundreds, if not thousands, of places one can go to find puzzles like this one. One of the reasons people come to this forum is to find puzzles that they can not find elsewhere, which mostly means puzzles requiring very advanced solving techniques, or unique variations that somehow add to the interest level.

Probably not, when it solves with just basics. As Jason pointed out, there are plenty of places to find those.

On the other hand, a puzzle may be interesting to people here even if it solves very easily with just a few advanced moves, but is more difficult when you try to solve it with just one advanced move.
