Right. That's the tactful way of saying I strewed up. I struggled with a last term until I came up with that thing. Anytime I venture into ALS's I'm taking a chance. What rule did I break here and is there an ALS in c9 which gives me an 8 at the end? As I've said before, I always appreciate it when some one points out my errors, so thanks for looking at it and bringing it to my attention.

Marty, the problem is that r36c9 doesn't contain only the candidate 4, 8, and 9. If it did, then eliminating 4 would lock the set to 89 and do what you want. Also, your next to last term says that r6c9 is a 4, and your last term says it isn't. If the candidates in r6c9 had been 69 rather than 46, then you could have written:

(8=5)r7c1-(5=6)r6c1-(6=98)r63c9=>r7c9<>8

That's probably what you had in mind, but I don't think there's an ALS in c9 that does what you want.

I've always had trouble trying to figure out what to do with the last entry before an ALS. , but I now think I know what to do.

Once again, Steve, thanks very much for the help.

An AIC alternative for the -3r7c7 elimination.
(9)r7c7 = r2c7 – r2c6 = r23c4 – (9=4563)r6c1479 => -3r7c7
