Thanks. I was afraid that no one would bother to decipher that thing. :)

Oh, I love that when something looks interesting! The logic of the part in question was clever and not obvious, which is why I liked it. Of course it can be made more obvious, but that takes out some of the fun :)

On the other hand, I'd personally prefer breaking down big ALS nodes in general (if other possibilities exist) because they're kind of tedious to follow for me (especially if the linking digits are in the middle). I know you like them that way, and I don't mind that at all. It's more interesting and educational to have different styles showcasing that the same logic can be expressed in many ways. I usually prefer as few cells and digits as possible as they map to smaller matrices and "alien fishes". Here I'd probably write it like this:

(9=32)r15c1 - r5c5 = (25-9)r47c5 = r9c45|r78c4 - r9c1&r2c4 = (9)r1c1|r2c7 => -9 r1c8; stte

That's just one possibility, and not criticism of yours at all. (I didn't see that logic until I saw yours anyway).

I hear you. Yours was deliciously complicated as well, and I enjoyed it.

Of course, Leren's solution just can't be denied. Straightforward and simple.

Thanks. As usual, it was probably more fun to write than to read, though :)

By any objective measures it's clearly the best here. If I'd seen it, I would have picked it, as I try to avoid unnecessary complexity unless all simple answers are already taken or I can't see them. I simply missed this one, as it was definitely available in my coloring. I just would have written it as a two-linker -- not just because it's shorter but because I find it actually easier to read that way.
