Phil, I can see that when r8c3 is 7 it eliminates those 7's from r9c12, but does your solution work when r8c3 is 3 because it forces r7c79 to 59 and then r7c1 and r9c3 are both 17 so r9c12<>7
Is that it, or is there another reason why r8c3<>7 eliminates 7's from r9c12?

Its really just a straightforward ALS XZ, with X=3 and Z=7. if(7)r8c3 <> 7, the ALS R9c3456 becomes the naked quad of 1278 so either way r9c12 <> 7.
