My wife saw a t-shirt and bought it for me.

On the front, it said "I can't help myself"

On the back was this:
Code: Select all
3--  ---  --8
-29  745  613
51-  8--  -9-

-62  -7-  -5-
---  9-2  -6-
--5  ---  -3-

-9-  5-3  -7-
--1  489  32-
64-  ---  --5

But I am ashamed to wear it.

She should have bought you two t-shirts or even four ... in case the puzzle doesn't have a unique solution ... or in case bifurcation is required.:D

A suggestion.
You should offer her this one :
Code: Select all
 . . . . . . . . .
 . 3 9 7 . 5 4 2 .
 4 . . . 6 . . . 9
 1 . . . 8 . . . 6
 7 . . . . . . . 2
 . 5 . . . . . 9 .
 . . 8 . . . 1 . .
 . . . 2 . 3 . . .
 . . . . 7 . . . .

See here for a full collection:)

Four solutions actually, but, if you change e.g. both r3c1 and r7c8 to 4, it's unique (but becomes severely non-minimal). Or changing r8c3 to 7 and r4c8 to 4 can finally yield:
Code: Select all
 . . . . . . . . .
 . 2 6 . . 3 . . 4
 3 1 . 8 . . . . .
 . . . . 7 . . . .
 . . . 9 . . . 8 .
 . . 5 . . . . 3 .
 . 9 . . . 8 . 1 .
 . . . . 5 6 . 2 .
 . 4 . . . . . . 5   20 clues

Mike, are you suggesting to Mac that he (or his wife) should patch 2 pieces of cloths onto his T-shirt to replace 2 clues with other digits?:)

I was suspecting did the designer of the T-shirt deliberately put in a puzzle with 4 solutions? Fashion design/art is always very difficult to understand (if you can call T-shirt design a form of art)...:!:

And wearing it should provide some joy for the person standing behind you in a long queue outside the theatre etc... Until he/she reach the following state:
Code: Select all
376 291 548
829 745 613
514 836 .9.

.62 378 .59
.37 952 86.
985 614 .3.

298 563 .7.
751 489 326
643 127 985

:D

I like the idea of the t-shirt.... That is if you don't mind the sudoku fanatic staring when in public places trying to spot a naked single....

That's what I do all the time, there just aren't too many in public places.

Naked singles in public places...well placed digits on a t-shirt. What is this world coming to.

Actually a single (not naked) might just get the looks and stares they are looking for.
