Now (6,4)1 > (6,5)9 > (7,5)1 > (2,5)!1 > (1,4)1, a contradiction. Therefore (6,4)9 and this solves the puzzle.
Is this what you had in mind?

Edit (had a wrong one here):
Mine was:
(6,3)2 > (6,5)9 > (7,5)1 > (2,5)7 > (2,3)2
