Bat,

i don't know, why JC pointed you to Steve's forbidden chains. Yes, it's logically a case of your beloved 'Type 3 Discontinuous Nice Loop', but only a special case of b/b plots, which were invented by Jeff and best practiced by Carcul on this forum.
However, Steve is one of my very favourite manual solvers, and i only can recommend to read how he looked at a puzzle.
