With this puzzle multi-coloring proved actually useful, as there was no obvious main cluster to be seen. Coloring a couple of connected smaller clusters solved it almost immediately, though, without having to choose any as the main. Unfortunately the result was exactly the same as Clement's, and I have no time to look for anything else now, so this just serves to show how I found it:
