Marty, I don't see how your DP works, or how the strong link you've written leads to an elimination.

The strong inference that shows is really more of a narrative, telling what I did without notation, which I didn't think was necessary in this case. To kill the DP, either r12c5 is 4 or 7, creating a pseudo cell which combines with r4c5 to form the 47 naked pair, eliminating 4 from r8c5. The other DP killer is 9 in r3c7. Making eliminations from either killer yields several common outcomes.

Ah, OK. I see your logic now, and I agree that there's no need for further explanation if I had been using my head. However, I must be having a bad day. I still don't see why the 23s make a deadly pattern in boxes 1,2,3. If the 23 pair in box 1 was confined to 1 column and the 23/239 set in box 3 was confined to 1 column then I'd get it, but I don't the way it is.

Steve, I agree. I plotted the thing out on blank grids to see if it was a DP. It comes out okay (I think) in boxes and rows, but I can see that the columns don't work out.
