Hello,

I have two questions about this puzzle:
1. Can the marked fields be considered as WXYZ-Wing? Pivot is r8c9 and the pincers are r7c89 and r8c4. (Is_It_WXYZ_1.png)
2. If the answer is YES, can the both candidates (6 and 7) be eliminated from r8c78?

The problem with answering your questions are, that with the solved cells you have, the puzzle solves with singles, so your questions are moot.

3 in r1c3 is a hidden single in Column 3, 1 is a hidden singles in Column 6, 3 is a single in Column 7, which then forces 2 a single in row 9, and so on until the puzzle is solved. I've shown the first of the singles in the following PM diagram.

No, it is not a Wxyz wing.. The 4 cells selected do not have a restricted common between the cells.

I don't think there's a law against trying to spot or use "too advanced" patterns for a given situation, so I don't see the question as moot per se. The answer is clearly no, however, as StrmCkr said.
