If there is more than one correct answer, will you please indicate this in the answer printed in the paper the next day? Thanks.

Hello diffenbach. If it's a Pappocom paper (that is, a paper which receives its Sudoku puzzles from Pappocom) there is always only one correct answer, so the problem does not arise.

If you are dealing with a Pappocom puzzle which you think has more than one solution, please Reply to this message and type the puzzle out, with its two solutions.

Wayne - Thanks for the quick response. The Sudoku puzzle I'll use as an example appeared as a Pappocom puzzle in the The Patriot-News of Harrisburg, PA USA on 10 Dec 2005. I post below the answer printed the next day in the paper followed by two other answers that I think are correct. I apologize if I have missed something. I appreciate your providing Sudoku. - Tom

The variations occur in the first three columns, in rows 3, 5, and 7.

diffenbach,

Please provide the original puzzle if that's possible.

Thanks.

I see my mistake. I had copied the puzzle in the newspaper to a tablet of paper so that I could work on the tablet. In so doing I moved the given "8" in c2, r3 to c3, r3. I'm willing to have my mistake be public but I don't like to lead others in the wrong direction. After a time, it might be worthwhile to delete this thread. My apology still stands. Thanks. - Tom

The puzzle as given was:

XXX XX5 81X
5XX X9X XXX
XX8 47X XX5

X3X XXX 987
XXX X6X XXX
872 XXX X5X

7XX X52 6XX
XXX X8X XX2
X45 6XX XXX
