what do you consider "basic stratagy" ?

oh sorry i mean when will you actualy need to use pencil marks to find hidden pairs naked pairs and others such as xwing and chains. right now i just use cross hatching and fill in the missing numbers so if there is 12346789 in a row i put the 5 in the only other box.and im on puzzle number 170
