"I can't do sudokus; I don't like fruit"

How many times have you heard people say they can't do (or don't like) sudokus because they're "no good at maths"?

Granted, logic is rightly a part of mathematics, but that is not what these people mean. Thousands of potential fanatics are missing out on the fun of sudokus just because they're scared of the numbers.

Next time someone says this to you, give them... FRUITOKU! (Unless they don't like fruit, of course!) All normal rules apply.

it gets harder as you can't count through the numbers to check through candidates, you have to count
lemon
pineapple
etc

and you need colored pencils and some talent in drawing,
which I haven't. I.e. my bananas don't look like bananas at all.
And I can't load it into computer.

Hmm, OTOH the specific choice of fruit might give the
sudoku an individual touch which could make it
copyrightable ?! ;-)

This one was easily solved with a naked pear but I had a lot of trouble pencilling in all the candidates! Would make a stunning line of kitchen wallpapers, though.:)

Not really - you can play it on the table with actual pieces of fruit!

I'd like to see how the fruit approach could be applied to 'Killer's'. That seems like a headache waiting to happen.

P.S. I attempted to explore the wallpaper thing here:

Any thoughts to be appreciated.

I'd like to see how the fruit approach could be applied to 'Killers'.

Naturally instead of a numerical sum of each dotted box, there would be a "culinary sum". For example, a group containing ORANGE, LEMON, AND PINEAPPLE would be a tropical fruit juice, and CHERRY, APPLE, PINEAPPLE, AND ORANGE would a fruit salad, whilst APPLE AND CHERRY could be some kind of pie or crumble.:D

And three cherries would be a JACKPOT PAYOUT!

Alright, so you can't have three cherries together. Shut up.

Naturally.

It's probably a good job none of you are near me at the moment, as I am consumed by an almost ungovernable fury. Five minutes ago my Firefox decided to spontaneously ask me about a profile or something. When I responded (apparently incorrectly) the B***ard deleted all my bookmarks and is refusing to co-operate with my attempts at retrieval.

Any thoughts? Apart from re-entering them all, that is.
