Advanced methods and approaches for solving Sudoku puzzles

I am totally stuck -- please help

Postby davidgentry » Tue Nov 15, 2005 2:44 am

I'm fairly new to Sudoku but find it addicting and have solved about 50 puzzles of various degrees of difficult. This is easily the hardest I have run across and could use a little help. THere appears to be no logical place to go next.

-2---3--7
----9-16-
--54----9
--37--9-1
4-------8
--1--93--
51---64--
-62-14---
3--2---1-

Also is someone could comment on the difficult of this puzzle it would be appreciated.

Thanks!

The only place left for a 9 in the bottom row is in column 2 or 3, so the other two cells in box 7 cannot be a 9. Now, the only place left for a 9 in column one is r1c1.

This is the most complex step required for the rest of the puzzle.
