Hi! I'm looking for a logical solution 2 this 'difficult' 1.

Hello there.

I finished this puzzle last night by guessing one of the squares finding a
non solution and so guessing another square which went through to
completion.

I would love to know how to finish it properly.

The board below is just what is left ... the dots are solved already.

(If it looks messed up I am sorry I am trying to learn how to type it right
how do you do it !?!)

Thanks for any tips

barnaby

p.s. the puzzle is in a book called Sudoku by Tammy Seto

Code: Select all

This might be a bit easier to read
Code: Select all
| .       .    .       | .     49   49   | .    .   .   |
| 78      .    78      | .     .    .    | .    .   .   |
| 69      .    69      | .     .    .    | .    .   .   |
|----------------------+-----------------+--------------|
| 578     .    2578    | .     27   .    | .    .   58  |
| 789     .    789     | .     .    678  | 69   .   18  |
| 4589    89   124589  | .     26   68   | 69   .   158 |
|----------------------+-----------------+--------------|
| .       .    689     | .      .   69   | .    89  .   |
| 45689   .    45689   | 58    67   4679 | .    89  .   |
| .       89   4589    | 58    49   .    | .    .   .   |

It's also helpful when posting, to include the numbers you've already worked out (in a second grid) - so anyone wanting to copy them into a program can do so easily.

See where you can place a 1 in column 3. This should lead you to a placement of 1 in column 9 as well as a few other numbers in row 6. This should get you the rest of the way to completion.

If there was an 'embarrassed' smiley here I'd put it in this reply !

It's funny when you can't see something that is right in front of your face.

I worked on the puzzle and even wrote it out on the internet and still couldn't see that solo 1 in that column !

Thank you for showing me ... You are right that solving that box gets you the rest of the way through.

Doh.

Thanks again. and next time I will post an a completed numbers grid oh and cheers for the formatting ! .. ( i just learned how to do it in a fixed width email .. maybe there is a fixed width service on line ..)
