Also, I cant work out how to format the grid properly or include candidates
and would appreciate some help

I read the advice on posting puzzles but am still confused.
What is the best software to create the puzzle in that I have gotton from the newspaper?
Should I type it into word, and cut and paste and if I do, what is the easiest way of drawing the grid,
especially for entering multiple cadidates?
Considering spacing etc.

look around the 'help with a Particular Puzzle' forum and you will see how to post a puzzle.

If you open Word and select new courier (a monospaced font) and lay it out there how you want, then copy and paste in the text box with 'code' tags at either side. Anything within the code tags will appear, (in the Preview box above) monospaced.
