Hi,

Got following valid Expert level standard Sudoku puzzle from Sudoku Master for Android:

I am interested to solve with Naked / Hidden Single/Pair/Triple/Quad, Pointing and Claiming Intersection Removal, Box-Line Reduction Intersection Removal, X-Wing, Sword Fish, Jelly Fish, XY-Wing, XYZ-Wing and Guess strategies.

The above mentioned puzzle become unsolvable with all above strategies and solved without XY-Wing and XYZ-Wing strategies.

Currently I have coded XY-Wing and XYZ-Wing in my Sudoku solver program and tested various puzzles.

RJ, I'm not sure what your question is here. That puzzle can't be solved using just the strategies that you've listed.

Hi Steve,

Many thanks for your quick response.

However, I have just added pencil mark option in my standard Sudoku solver program and look after each step. Found bug in rollback XYZ-Wing routine, corrected and now problem solved.

Steps taken to solve the puzzle including XY-Wing and XYZ-Wing (and Trial and Error, i.e., Guess!) are attached.

Glad you got it, RJ.

All things are possible when you allow guesswork.
